Rachid Sahbi![]() Stepping into the Denden workshop of Rachid Sahbi reminds you of the essence of the Souk and why they have endured thousands of years. The quality of handmade master metal work cannot be beaten and the difference between such items and lesser non-Tunisian items is dramatic even to a layman such as me. Rachid makes art of practical items such as Sishas/Hookah, tea sets and all manner of plates. The items make use of thick handcrafted materials that make them practical as well ornament that will last a lifetime. Mohammed Ghobel![]() When I returned from meeting Mr Ghobel I sat down to dinner with my father in law in Bizerte and recalled seeing his fantastic work “Yes he is known for this and in Europe” was his reply as if I should have known. To be fair to myself, it is not every day you meet a man as unassuming and at ease with his talent as Mr Ghobel, who took the time to speak with me and show me how he creates his art. Each artwork (to say carpet is insult) is drawn from a design/painting and numbered, for example a reproduction of a famous painting in material. The finest quality wool is then coloured and the colours combined by hand then woven to produce stunning results. This process can take weeks/months and results can be seen in fine art distributors around Europe. We are honoured to be able to offer a selection of designs by Mr Ghobel some of which cannot be reproduced and are collector’s items, which can be seen as an investment in addition to providing a centrepiece to your home. Art ET Argent![]() A family business in the best way Art ET Argent produce handcrafted silver and metal work to the highest standards. Working in their Den-Den workshop the family diligently produce items that are desired in Tunisia along with an increasing international customer base. It takes a huge investment in time and silver to produce their signature silver Arabic Daggers, which only two can be produced per week and weigh in at 700 grams. Another popular item is the jewellery box which is a very popular tourist item from Tunisia, however if buying for a Tunisian ensure that you purchase from a Artisans such as Art et Argent as believe me you can tell the difference in quality. Prices for these items are subject to fluctuation given the volume of silver used. El Feki Bilel![]() I love Olives and they form a central part of Tunisian life.
